We are ready to begin our third Grade 7 Literacy Unit, “Fears and Phobias.” In this unit, students will read a variety of stories, articles, and other print and media text forms that explore the concepts of fears, phobias, and anxiety, and how people overcome their fears.
As they read and exercise their skills, they will be developing these learning skills and strategies:

• Comprehension:  Summarizing, Non-Fiction Recount, novel study
• Writing:  Improving Word Choice
• Oral Language:  Summarizing While Listening
• Media Literacy:  Identifying Point of View
• Character Education:  Empathy, or “using compassion to understand others”
